The effects caused by the acceleration of climate change are having consequences both on climate patterns and on the natural balance of the planet. Broadly speaking, these effects are summarized in: Rising sea levels Increased erosion and desertification Loss of biodiversity Loss of ecosystems, among others. In this article we are going to focus on the effects caused by the loss of biodiversity in the environment. One of the examples that demonstrates the alteration of our ecosystems is the loss of a species, a fact that has produced great changes in a protected.

Yellowstone National Park, considered worldwide Jamaica Email List as an example of biological singularity and a system in good balance, suffered a desertification process in the middle of the last century due to the breakdown of balance in the food chain. This rupture was caused by the uncontrolled killing of wolves (Canis lupus) by man, which occurred at the beginning of the century, with 1926 being the year in which the last specimen was lost. The consequences of this loss of biodiversity, even though it was a single species, were not long in coming, since in a few years the number of Moose (alces alces) , Elk (cervus candensis) and other deer (cervidae) increased substantially by not having predation, which caused a decrease in vegetation.

With the increase in herbivorous pressure on the vegetation, there was a loss of shrub and forest specimens, which covered the banks of the rivers (species of poplars – (populus alba ), willows – ( salix ), among others, very nutritious and appreciated by herbivores). This loss of vegetation in turn caused the displacement of other animal species. For example, beavers (castor canadensis) , not having wood to build their shelters, migrated to other ecosystems, a fact that was repeated with other species. The loss of riverside vegetation, very important in fixing the soil, and of species such as beavers or otters (lutrinae) caused the river to leave its channel, leading to floods and drastic changes in the ecosystem. All of this had its origin in the loss of a species of predator.
