The Government of Cantabria is committed to face-to-face education, as revealed by the regional officials who participated this Tuesday in the State meeting with the communities to analyze the return to the classrooms after the Christmas holidays and taking into account the impact of the coronavirus.
In view of this return to school, the PRC-PSOE Executive is going to adapt the protocol to the latest review carried out at the national level, and therefore the quarantines for Covid-19 infections will become seven days, as stated. agreed at a general level.
This was indicated by the Minister of Health in the region, Miguel Rodríguez, when asked by journalists in a press conference called due to the evolution of the pandemic.
In his appearance before the media, the head of the Phone Number List department highlighted the conclusion reached in the Interterritorial Conference, between the ministries of Health, Education and Universities and the regional representatives of the sector, so that next Monday, January 10, the course in person.
«In Cantabria we are also committed to in-person education. We believe that it is a fundamental element to maintain the educational level of schoolchildren and in this sense we will do so ," said Rodríguez.
But, as indicated, the current protocol will be adapted to the latest review carried out at the national level, and the isolation of positive cases will increase from ten to seven days.
And "for the rest, in principle, the protocol will remain the same" as it was in Cantabria, said the head of the Ministry of Health, a department that works together with those of Education and Universities to adapt the changes and "at the expense" in any case of the epidemiological evolution.
But, for now, "we are not going to make any changes other than the seven-day quarantine ," stressed Miguel Rodríguez, who participated in the meeting along with the Ministers of Education and Universities, Marina Lombó and Pablo Zuloaga.
The latter has also referred, in statements to the media called to assess the unemployment data recorded in 2021, to that meeting and the return to classrooms after the Christmas holidays, which will be in person starting next week in schools and institutes and from and starting February in university studies.
The regional vice president also pointed out that Health and Education are currently working to "reinforce" the action protocols against the Ómicron variant, to give "certainty and security to families" and, he added, " knowing that classrooms are safe spaces." for the education of our children" and, also, "to fight against Covid-19."
At this point, he has emphasized that Cantabria is the autonomous community that is "most advanced" in the vaccination campaign for children, with 43.6% of children aged 5 to 11 vaccinated (41.4% with a first puncture and 2.2% immunized).
