Telemadrid will not broadcast the Madrid Gay Pride March , contrary to what it has been doing in recent years with special programming to cover this event. The decision, made by the management of Radio Television Madrid (RTVM), has been harshly criticized by the Works Committee , which describes it as “purely ideological.” Instead, the schedule for this Saturday, July 9, will include the broadcast of an all-out bullfight of “young bullfighting figures” from Valdilecha, which contrasts with the display made by the network on the occasion of the celebration of “World Pride” in 2017 and which was recognized with the Iris Award from the Television Academy. The Company Committee assures that the veto of the Pride March “fits perfectly into the mentality” of the current provisional administrator of RTVM José Antonio Sánchez , appointed by Isabel Díaz Ayuso just a year ago. Sánchez already directed Telemadrid between 2011 and 2014, a period in which he undertook an ERE that left almost 900 professionals on the street.
