Taking Clients to New Heights with Josh Davies

Josh Davies is a content marketing strategist at Brafton in the UK, where his job is to manage client accounts and develop strategies to ensure success.

In his role, Josh uses SEO data and research to create powerful content marketing strategies that align with his clients' targeted goals. He handles client communications and works closely with industry professionals across a wide range of industries. As an added bonus, Josh also gets to work one-on-one with Brafton's creative team to ensure the strategies he creates are delivered to clients.

While COVID-19 hasn’t allowed me to visit the Boston office yet, it's something I look forward to doing in the future."

Customer Management and the SEO Side
Prior to finding Brafton, Josh was an Account Coordinator at an SEO digital marketing agency. While browsing LinkedIn one day, Josh saw an opportunity to join the Brafton team, and, well, the rest is history.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, the chance to manage accounts, and take on new responsibilities,” Josh explains.

Over a year later, Josh is overseeing strategy and implementing SEO practices to ensure his clients' success. In his day-to-day role, Josh develops content strategies for clients that enable them to reach their marketing goals. He works closely with clients, creative team members, and project managers to ensure all deliverables are met.

However, strategy is only one aspect of Josh’s role. As a content marketing strategist, he is also responsible for overseeing his clients’ SEO strategies. This includes performing keyword research, curating social media ideas and developing ideas to improve user experience.

“It’s hard work sometimes,” Josh said. “But when things go well, it’s so worth it.”

Help customers overcome any difficulties
Josh’s SEO and content marketing strategies take his clients to new heights, but this is nothing new to him. He has been an avid skier since he was 4 years old, and this winter sport remains Josh’s main passion to this day. In fact, before starting his marketing career, Josh traveled the world as a ski instructor. His travel destinations include Japan, Australia, Austria, France, and Canada.

Skiing requires a lot of perseverance and the ability to not be afraid of falling. As the saying goes: "In skiing, if you don't fall, you haven't learned anything." The same applies to managing customers and strategies.

“In my role, I’m always learning,” Josh explains. “That’s something I love – feeling like I’m constantly learning something new. Normally, I’d use data to create a content strategy and then change it based on client requests or changes in the market. But this was just a new opportunity for me to dig deeper, learn something new, and then apply my findings to strategy.”


Get ready to accept new challenges
To be a good skier, you have to be flexible. Josh says his role as a content marketing strategist is no exception.

“I try to use research and industry data to create a content strategy that produces really great results,” Josh explains. “But sometimes, that strategy needs to change. So I have to be agile, adaptable, and always ready to come up with new ways to overcome challenges.”

Josh finds that clear, consistent communication combined with valuable resources is key to ensuring a successful strategy. He relies on SEO programs such as Semrush, Moz, and BrightLocal to create a data-driven SEO process for his clients. Josh will also use HubSpot as a content marketing resource and various UX design applications to stay current on the latest trends and research.

After a day of strategic planning and organizing client-facing and internal communications, Josh likes to relax with a walk in the woods. He enjoys solitude and spending time in nature, which allows him to reorganize his thoughts before returning to the office to strategize for the next marketing effort.
