Coca-Cola is the most polluting company in terms of plastic waste in the United Kingdom once again. The annual Brand Audit report by Surfers Against Sewage found that 17% of all branded plastic waste comes from Coca-Cola. The recently published SAS report names the members of the "Dirty Dozen"; twelve brands which they say are responsible for 70% of branded plastic rubbish found in the UK over the last 12 months. SAS stated that this is the fourth consecutive time that Coca-Cola is the most polluting company in terms of plastic waste in the United Kingdom. Even though Coca-Cola has taken steps to reduce its plastic pollution, the brand still generates a large amount of plastic waste, the charity said. As part of its study, the charity examined each of the 30,745 pieces of plastic waste it collected from June 2022 to June 2023. They found that 10,951 of these objects, or 36%, were clearly marked with a name. branded. This year, the audit found vaping and e-cigarette products for the first time. A total of 131 articles were included in this group. All items listed in the brand audit report were collected by volunteers during SAS' Million Mile Cleans events. During these events, people from the community clean beaches, canal paths, horseback riding paths, and city streets. SAS says more than 4,000 people helped clean up more than 499 sites this year.
