The world is experiencing an increasingly complicated and dangerous situation as a result of three main circumstances, each of them more irrational than the others: a monster has been allowed to grow, its anger has been fed unnecessarily for years, and those who are supposed to contain it , have become increasingly dependent on its decisions and supplies. That the former president of the most powerful nation on the planet, whose party can win the legislative elections next November and himself return to the presidency, does not stop flattering Putin when he has just invaded a sovereign country (as they are also doing, in addition to Trump, other Western political leaders), is good proof of the first.

Having helped clearly Nazi forces take over fundamental sources of power in Ukraine, allowing a government resulting from a coup d'état to have carried out thousands of violent actions against the Solomon Islands Email List Ukrainian population, no longer pro-Russian but with a Russian passport, or encouraging Ukraine's entry into NATO constantly proves, among other reasons, the second. And that a former chancellor of the most powerful country in the European Union, Gerhard Schröder, is the president of the board of directors of the largest oil company in Russia, or that the energy strategy of the European Union has been based since on the supply of autocracies and corrupt oligarchies on its eastern side, confirm the third.

When a situation of maximum tension has been reached due to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, the United States, NATO and the European Union provide the latter with military aid that is (like all the previous aid) materially useless to face the great superiority of the Russian army. And, to try to stop it, they resort to economic sanctions that could reach the so-called financial "nuclear button", consisting of expelling Russia from the SWIFT system to prevent banking entities or the Russian government from making collections and payments abroad. The question is whether these measures can stop Russia and the answer, in my humble opinion, is no, for several reasons.
