Sustainable alternatives and the opportunities that are emerging in the cosmetics and beauty sector related to them. Through constant research and innovations in beauty, the cosmetics sector is booming, reaching higher consumption figures each year. In spain, every year 25% of cosmetic products are reformulated compared to 10% that incorporate new ingredients. While the food sector is recording record figures in the consumption of organic foods, beauty cannot be left behind. The consumer makes natural a lifestyle that focuses on all aspects of it: from food to beauty. However, this trend towards natural things originated in the world of food and is slowly spreading to other areas. Last year there was talk of a “green” innovation with clear examples in cosmetics: sulfate-free soaps. A natural gelling agent (born from the combination between phospholipids and polysaccharides). An oil based on passion fruit seeds, with notable effects on tissue repair. An eye contour obtained with organic horse chestnut flowers.

In short, there are many consumers who are betting on this type of cosmetics made with natural, ecological and sustainable ingredients. Brands were not going to sit idly by in the face of such a revolution, which is why it is increasingly possible to find sustainable alternatives to products from big brands in the world of beauty. It is  important  CUB Directory  that the product is sustainable . It is no longer just a matter of health. The consumer demands that the products they purchase come from industries whose practices can be classified as sustainable. The industry, in these cases, turns directly to biotechnology. A question of ethics sustainable cosmetics entails ethical principles that have emerged in recent years from the awareness of a large part of the population. It is about not consuming products that generate aggressive waste for the environment. The use of floral waters, vegetable oils, essential oils and waxes is sought.

Likewise, some ingredients have been rejected and prohibited for being unethical, such as raw materials from animals (except lanolin and beeswax). Among the list of prohibited ingredients are others such as silicones, paraffin, synthetic colorants and perfumes as well as unnatural emulsifiers. Sustainability goes further: to the packaging . The packaging of these products must also be made from materials that do not harm the environment. Packaging must be recycled and not contain components derived from petrochemicals. Sustainable cosmetics are closely related to the cruelty-free movement. This movement advocates testing products on animals. As more and more people choose these types of products, many manufacturers are placing labels on their products to emphasize that they have not been tested on animals. Even so, there are companies that use natural ingredients and that are truly cruelty-free but do not use this labeling on their products.
